Next month Sundance Film Festival will launch their first festival without their founder Robert Redford. Like anyone the Hollywood legend will want to thrive and today the festival unveiled it’s 2026 line up that wants to captivate you.
The festival will say farewell Robert Redford but they will also say goodbye Park City Utah. In 2027 they will have a new home in Boulder Colorado after 40 years in the current location.
For the Park City swan song, the 2026 edition will showcase 90 films from 28 countries. Once again a diverse range of films on offer, how many will we see on our screens next year? Sundance has came infamous for giving horror fans (like ourselves) some great films will this time be any different?
2026 Sundance Film Festival will take place from 22nd January until 1st February 2026. Below is some highlights of the upcoming festival, stay tuned we’ll have a look at our picks feature. If you are lucky to attend head over to Sundance official site, which you can book your tickets.
Charlie xcx will have busy festival with 3 films. The Moment is a mockumentary sees her play herself, and the pressures to make a tour doc or concert, Alexander Skarsgard and Rachel Sennott also star. She will also star in Cathy Yan‘s dark comedy The Gallerist along with Natalie Portman, Jenny Ortega and Sterling K Brown. The final film is Greg Araki‘s erotic thriller I Want Your Sex which also stars Cooper Hoffman and Olivia Wilde.
Macon Blair‘s The Shitheads gives us a douse of absurd humour starring Dave Franco and O’Shea Jackson. The pair have the simple job to chaperone a young man (played by Mason Thames), chaos ensured! Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe star in Padraic McKinley’s period US drama The Weight. Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer’s drama Wicker starring Olivia Colman a fisherwoman looking for a husband, a basket weaver could it be Alexander Skarsgard?
Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan star in Beth de Araújo’s Josephine, about a child who witnesses a crime. Screen Scotland funded UK Drama The Incomer directed by Louis Paxton and stars Domhnall Gleeson, and John Hannah. Chris Pine gets a second chance in life in comedy drama Carousel directed by Rachel Lambert and also stars Jenny Slate. Daniel Roher’s Tuner starring Dustin Hoffman and Leo Woodall has been making its rounds around the film festivals now it’s Sundance!
Casper Kelly gave us one of the ‘phallic’ entries in V/H/S Halloween. Now he delivers Buddy whichis a young girl’s nightmarish escape from a kids tv show. In Adrian Chiarella’s debut coming of age horror Leviticus, 2 star-crossed boys who must escape from a violent entity that takes shape of the one thing they desire…each other. Finally Alex Gibney‘s Doc about Salman Rushdie‘s 2022 attack Knife: The Attempted Murder of Salman Rushdie makes it’s premiere.
