Caroline Schwitzky, who was known for appearing in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, recently became the subject of an attempted murder trial. During three days of testimony, it was claimed that her ex had attempted to drown her, with multiple figures sharing different sides of the story. Since then, however, the judge has shared a verdict, an acquittal, with various figures sharing their reactions.
The Trial Concerned An Incident During A ‘Boca Bash’ Event Back In 2022
Schwitzky was featured on the reality show’s spin-off, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, where she served as a talent agent for Paola Mayfield, who appeared on the show alongside her husband, Russ. For her part, Schwitzky is believed to have appeared on the show during the first two seasons, in 2016 and 2017.
Recently, Schwitzky’s name resurfaced in the news, as it was reported that her ex was set for an attempted second-degree murder trial. Reportedly, Schwitzky herself was at the center of the story, with her being the alleged victim and having to testify during the proceedings.
According to court records, Schwitzky’s ex-boyfriend, Cole Goldberg, was charged with one count of attempted homicide in 2022, having been arrested by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. More specifically, he had been accused of attempting to drown Schwitzky at a “Boca Bash” event in Florida. He was also charged with one count of battery and one count of battery by strangulation, with him later pleading “not guilty” to all charges.
Schwitzky had testified that she had broken up with Goldberg just before jumping into the water to swim away from him. She then claimed to have been pushed underwater. She claimed that she initially believed she was being attacked by a shark. However, she later claimed that she saw Goldberg’s legs. However, Goldberg’s attorneys argued that he was attempting to prevent himself from drowning, with him claiming to have entered the water because he was worried for her safety.
Cole Goldberg Has Since Released A Statement Since His Acquittal
Witnesses also reportedly told cops that they yelled at Cole to stop. Several people also allegedly went into the water to try to break up the couple.
After three days of testimony, Goldberg was ultimately acquitted. Judge John Parnofiello, who oversaw the case, claimed that there was too much inconsistency within the witness testimony. Reportedly, Goldberg chose a bench trial over a trial with a jury.
In a statement with TMZ, Goldberg shared, “I’m so glad the truth finally came out. I’ve been dealing with this since 2022, so it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. There’s no resentment with Caroline, I just can’t believe she would ever think I could do something like that.” Since his acquittal, he claimed that he plans to go back to law school in South Florida.
Goldberg’s attorneys, Heidi Perlet and Marc Shiner, also shared a statement. It read, “We are all relieved and grateful that this four-year ordeal is over. We had every confidence in Judge Parnofiello’s ability to be fair to both sides of the aisle. And to follow the law. Despite being a young judge, his sense of fairness, intelligence and reputation for following the law is undisputed.”
For her part, the 90 Day Fiancé alum told the outlet that she’s still processing the verdict. She also shared that she didn’t want to release a statement just yet. However, she shared that she might within a few days.
