A compelling Sunday evening of European football delivered drama in Italy and an upset in France, with AC Milan’s title hopes taking a hit and Cesc Fabregas’s Como continuing to shock the rest of Italy.

Catch up with the best of the action right here on 101GreatGoals.

    Como 2-1 AS Roma

Cesc Fabregas’s Como moved into the Serie A Champions League places with a deserved win over Roma.

It was a match that turned when Wesley was shown a controversial second yellow card for a challenge on Assane Diao, a decision that appeared harsh, with replays suggesting Devyne Rensch may have contributed to the fall.

Roma had led through a Donyell Malen penalty in the seventh minute after Djibril Sow bundled over Joao Cancelo inside the box.

Como dominated possession and had the better of chances throughout, going close through Nico Paz and Alex Valle before their persistence paid off. Half-time substitute Tasos Douvikas levelled on 59 minutes, springing the offside trap to squeeze a finish under Mile Svilar at the near post.

The decisive moment came on 79 minutes when defender Diego Carlos attacked a corner to tap home from close range.

Como climbed into the fourth Champions League spot with the win, leapfrogging Roma and Juventus in the process.

    Lazio 1-0 AC Milan

Gustav Isaksen’s early strike handed Lazio a famous victory over title-chasing AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico, dealing a significant blow to Massimiliano Allegri’s side in the Serie A title race.

The Danish winger struck on 26 minutes, converting from Adam Marusic’s assist to give the hosts a lead they would defend resolutely for the remainder of the game.

Milan dominated possession, finishing with 57 per cent of the ball, and created chances throughout, Kenneth Taylor striking the crossbar and Mike Maignan called into action with four saves at the other end.

A VAR check for a potential Milan penalty came to nothing.

The result leaves Milan second in Serie A, nine points behind Inter with games running out. Lazio’s Maurizio Sarri was also shown a red card during the second half for dissent, adding to the evening’s drama at the Olimpico.

    Rennes 1-2 Lille

Lille claimed an impressive away win at Roazhon Park, recovering from an early setback to beat Rennes.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo struck inside two minutes to give Lille a lightning start, finishing to shock the hosts.

Rennes pressed for an equaliser throughout the first half but could not find a way through. Hakon Arnar Haraldsson doubled the visitors’ lead on 47 minutes immediately after the restart, and although Esteban Lepaul pulled one back for the hosts on 59 minutes, Lille held on to take all three points.

The result moves Lille to seventh in Ligue 1, level on points with Rennes in sixth, as the battle for European football in France enters a crucial stage.
