Over the weekend, Rogers-owned Fido rolled out discounts to some of its plans to match offers from Koodo and other providers.
However, not all of Fido’s changes are for the best. Check out the details below:
- $24/10GB + 10GB bonus (previously $35)
- $28/60GB + 20GB bonus (previously $40)
- $35/60GB + 20GB bonus CAN/US/MEX (previously $49)
- $75/100GB (previously $55)
Note: all of the above plans include 5G data with speeds up to 1Gbps, unlimited international calls to 27 countries, and 500 international texts (1,000 for the $35 plan). Fido also appears to have removed the free hotspot add-on it was offering, which means if you want hotspot access, you’ll need to shell out even more money for an add-on.
Further, the plans have an assortment of price reductions, including a $5/mo autopay discount and other promotional price cuts to bring the plans in line with Koodo.
Telus-owned Koodo launched a 25 per cent off sale on all of its 5G plans on Friday in response to Freedom bringing back a $40/250GB deal and Public Mobile adding tons of data to its plans.
As mentioned up top, not all of Fido’s plans got improved. The carrier’s 100GB plan got a price hike and is now available for $75 instead of $55 like before. Koodo’s version of that plan is currently available for $38.75/mo, while Public has a $40/150GB plan.

Fido’s website also lists an $80/10GB plan, which I have to believe is an error because why would anyone pay $80/mo for a plan that’s worse than the $24/mo plan Fido also offers.
While it’s nice to see Fido match Koodo’s pricing, I’m not sure it’s the best option right now. While it has faster data speeds than Koodo, Fido’s plans also lack hotspot access, which is a pretty significant miss in my eyes. And that’s not even getting into what Freedom and Public are doing right now, as both of those providers have some very intriguing deals on right now.
Further, Fido doesn’t list an end date, but other providers are supposed to end the offers today (March 16), so if you want to take advantage of any of these offers, you’ll need to move quickly. It’s always possible the providers will launch a new set of deals for this weekend, but there’s no guarantee. And there’s no guarantee Fido will keep its discounts around after the other providers end their deals.
