Kristin Cabot, who went viral after being spotted with Astronomer CEO Andy Byron at a Coldplay concert, is speaking out about the incident that turned her into an internet sensation.
Already separated from her husband at the time, Cabot revealed her estranged spouse was also at the concert. She says the viral backlash unfairly targeted her, with critics ignoring the context of her personal and professional relationships.
Kristin Cabot is now reclaiming her narrative, sharing her story publicly, and preparing to discuss the experience at PRWeek’s 2026 “Crisis Comms Conference.”
Kristin Cabot Reveals Estranged Husband Was At Viral Coldplay Concert
Kristin Cabot is sharing new details about the moment that turned her life upside down.
Speaking on “The Oprah Podcast,” Cabot revealed that she and her husband were already separated when the now-viral clip was filmed. But she also shared a surprising twist: her estranged husband, Andrew Cabot, happened to be at the same concert that night.
According to Cabot, her daughter texted her during the show to say they were both at the stadium. She admitted the thought briefly crossed her mind that running into him could make things awkward while she was there with Byron.
Still, she assumed the odds were low given the crowd of more than 50,000 people at Gillette Stadium.
Looking back, Cabot joked that bumping into him might have been preferable to what actually happened, appearing on the stadium’s jumbotron and quickly becoming a viral meme online.
Kristin Cabot Says Estranged Husband Knew About Relationship Before Viral Concert Moment: ‘He Knows We Socialized’

Despite the backlash on social media, where some labeled her a “homewrecker,” Cabot said the online criticism didn’t reflect the reality of her situation, explaining that her estranged husband was already aware of her relationship with Byron before the concert moment went viral.
“He [my ex] knows how closely Andy and I worked together,” she said, per People Magazine. “He knows we socialized — like got lunches and got drinks. It was fine.”
She added that her professional environment often involves building close working relationships.
“I’ve shared desks with the CEOs I’ve worked with,” she explained, “like it’s just a very close relationship. And so it didn’t matter.”
Cabot, who has since filed for divorce, later told The New York Times that she believed Byron was also in the process of separating from his wife at the time. Byron has not publicly addressed the situation and has since been seen with his wife.
The former HR chief has also maintained that her relationship with Byron was not sexual, saying the two only shared a kiss during the concert.
Kristin Cabot Slams Public Backlash Over Her Kiss Cam Moment

While Byron has remained silent about the controversy, Cabot addressed the situation in several interviews late last year.
She called the moment with her married boss as a lapse in judgment after having “a couple of High Noons.”
Reflecting on the viral incident, Cabot told The Times of London that the attention it generated felt surreal.
“I could have been struck by lightning, I could have won the lottery, or this could have happened,” she said. “But I’m not a celebrity, I’m just a mom from New Hampshire.”
Cabot also pushed back against the intense public scrutiny, saying that even if she had been involved in an affair, it should have remained a private matter.
“It has been like a scarlet letter,” Cabot said, adding that people overlooked her career accomplishments because of the controversy. “This can’t be the final word.”
Kristin Cabot Says Her Children Are ‘Mad’ At Her Over The Incident

Cabot said she ultimately decided to speak publicly about the controversy because the fallout from the viral moment has not gone away.
“It’s not over for me, and it’s not over for my kids,” she told The Times. “The harassment never ended.”
She revealed that the situation has been especially difficult for her two children, who she said feel embarrassed by the attention surrounding the incident.
According to Cabot, they sometimes avoid being picked up from school by her or attending sports events together.
“They’re mad at me,” she admitted. “And they can be mad at me for the rest of their lives – I have to take that.”
Cabot also questioned whether Byron faced the same level of criticism after the scandal.
The Former HR Chief Plans To Reclaim Her Story At PRWeek 2026 After Viral Backlash
Cabot further suggested that the backlash toward her felt particularly harsh because she is a woman.
“I took the bulk of the abuse,” she said, recalling accusations that she was a “gold digger” or had “slept her way to the top.” The 53-year-old added that those claims were especially painful given how hard she had worked throughout her career to prove otherwise.
According to reports, Cabot is now preparing to speak further about the experience at PRWeek’s 2026 “Crisis Comms Conference” in April, where tickets cost $875. Her 30-minute session is titled “Kristin Cabot: Taking Back the Narrative.”
According to the event description, Cabot will discuss the intense public backlash she faced and how she has worked to reshape her story. She will appear alongside her public relations representative, Dini von Mueffling, to outline the immediate and long-term strategies used to regain control of her public image.
