Former One Direction musician Niall Horan found a love worth singing about thanks to his long-term girlfriend, Amelia Woolley.
“I’m in a relationship, so I think that comes with [it],” Horan told Entertainment Tonight in June 2023 of using his relationship as lyrical inspiration. “Usually, it’s the love songs [or] heartbreak songs, so it’s nice to be able to write better, you know, happier stuff.”
Horan and Woolley have been romantically linked since 2020, making their public debut at his Horan & Rose Gala that September.

“I try to keep my private life as private as I possibly can,” Horan told Bustle in 2023. “There’s a tendency in the world to take your arm off when you offer a handshake, you know what I mean? But, I’m not hiding.”

How Did Niall Horan Meet Amelia Woolley?
Niall Horan and Amelia Woolley were first linked in 2020, and their meet-cute inspired his 2026 song “Dinner Party.”
“The song itself is about the first time I met my girlfriend,” Horan said in a March 2026 video shared via TikTok. “This is the first time I’ve thought about in a bigger picture, like, a once in a lifetime moment that actually changes your direction of travel and life [and] like an actual shock to the system that makes you go, ‘Oh f***, things are different now.’”
Much like Horan’s song title, he met Woolley at a dinner party.
“One kiss on your neck / it was so concrete,” he sings. “I’m done looking for somebody / behind closed doors / things I’ve never felt before / crashing lights when you first saw me / yeah, I met you at a dinner party.”
In a TikTok comment, Horan revealed that “Dinner Party” was inspired by “a really happy and big moment” in his life.
“An evening at a simple dinner party that changed the course of my life,” he explained. “After writing the song, the words ‘dinner party’ became the nucleus for the rest of the record. That once in a lifetime moment that I am grateful for and for everything that came after that night.”

In addition to 2026’s “Dinner Party,” there are several songs on Niall Horan’s Heartbreak Weather and The Show albums that are about Amelia Woolley.
Woolley notably inspired “Black and White,” “You Could Start a Cult” and “Never Grow Up,” the latter of which is also based on her parents’ lasting marriage.
“I think she’s just like, ‘What? Really?’” Horan told Entertainment Tonight in 2023 of Woolley’s reaction to the love songs. “She’s, like, taken aback, I suppose.”
Horan’s relationship with Woolley also inspired his 2026 album, Dinner Party, in which a Target bonus track is aptly titled “Mia” as a nod to Woolley’s nickname.

Horan further gushed that his longtime love is “amazing.”
“Having someone to rant with and listen to and be listened to is huge,” he quipped. “I’m glad I found it, and she’s amazing and she’s got her own thing going on. I love the life that we’ve got.”
