Raygan Kirk of Ste. Anne, Manitoba recorded her second career Professional Women’s Hockey League shutout on Tuesday. She accomplished the feat in a 2-0 Toronto Sceptres win over the Boston Fleet at the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts.
Kirk made 26 saves in the game. She had eight saves in the first period, eight saves in the second period, and 10 saves in the third period.
This is the second time over the last week that Kirk recorded a shutout in a 2-0 Sceptres win. Kirk also blanked the Seattle Torrent 2-0 on Sunday.
In the Sceptres win over the Fleet on Tuesday, Daryl Watts of Toronto, Ontario scored the game-winning goal at 8:59 of the third period from Kali Flanagan. Then Canadian Olympic gold medalist Blayre Turnbull of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia scored an unassisted insurance marker into an empty net with 27 seconds left in the game. Turnbull won a gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
On the season, Kirk now has a record of six wins, five regulation losses, and five losses in extra time. She has a goals against average of 2.05 and a save percentage of .929.
The Sceptres are now fourth in the PWHL standings with 31 points. They lead the Ottawa Charge by three points for the final playoff spot.
