Catch up with all the action from Bournemouth vs Manchester United in the Premier League

Bournemouth and Manchester United shared the spoils in a chaotic 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium, in a blockbuster Friday night Premier League encounter.

The first half failed to deliver any goals but was far from uneventful, with Manchester United creating the clearer opportunities. Bruno Fernandes was at the heart of most of United’s attacking play, testing the Bournemouth defence.

The visitors came closest when Diogo Dalot picked out Fernandes at the back post with a delicate cross, only for goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic to produce an instinctive save with his foot on the goal line.

Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo also forced Petrovic into action, while Bournemouth’s threat largely came on the counter-attack, with Rayan and Evanilson attempting to exploit space behind the United backline.

Despite a combined 16 shots in the opening 45 minutes, neither side could find a breakthrough, and the teams went into the interval level.

The game shifted after the restart. Bournemouth began the second half brightly, but it was United who struck first. On 59 minutes, Cunha was brought down in the box by Alex Jimenez, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Fernandes stepped up and calmly converted, sending Petrovic the wrong way to give United a deserved lead.

However, their advantage lasted just six minutes. Bournemouth responded with a rapid counter-attack following a controversial moment at the other end, where United had appeals for a penalty waved away.

Within seconds, the hosts surged forward, and Ryan Christie fired a low effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the area to make it 1-1.

Momentum continued to swing, and United thought they had regained control in the 71st minute. Fernandes delivered a dangerous corner which caused confusion in the Bournemouth box, and under pressure, defender James Hill inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to restore the visitors’ lead.

Yet another twist in the match arrived shortly after. In the 78th minute, Harry Maguire was shown a straight red card after pulling down Evanilson inside the penalty area when the striker was through on goal.

The referee judged there was no attempt to play the ball, leaving United down to 10 men and Bournemouth with a golden opportunity to draw level.

Substitute Junior Kroupi kept his composure from the spot, drilling his penalty into the bottom corner to level the match at 2-2 and set up a frantic finale.

With the extra man, Bournemouth pushed relentlessly for a winner. They pinned United deep inside their own half, committing bodies forward and testing the visitors.

Fernandes nearly produced a big moment at the other end, only to see his goal-bound effort brilliantly blocked by Alex Scott in the closing stages.

There were nine minutes of added time, during which Bournemouth continued to press, but United defended well to preserve their point.
