The Montreal Alouettes have quarterback Davis Alexander under contract through the 2028 CFL season.

He added an extra year in December, which benefitted him by putting more cash in his bank account after taxes and increased overall hard money earnings. Despite starting seven regular season games in 2025, the Gig Harbor, Washington native added $146,000 more in hard money combined for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

His original 2026 season had him set to earn $336,000 in hard money with a $406,000 maximum value. Initially in 2027, Alexander was scheduled to collect $386,000 in hard money with a $456,000 maximum value.

Here’s how his new 2026, 2027 and 2028 contract years break down.

2026 compensation: $180,000 signing bonus, $141,080 base salary, $50,000 marketing, $15,420 housing, $12,500 travel, $5,000 training, equals $404,000 in hard money. $36,000 playtime plus $6,000 in all-star and award incentives gives him a $446,000 maximum value.

2027 compensation: $190,000 January 15 roster bonus, $196,080 base salary, $45,000 marketing, $15,420 housing, $12,500 travel, $5,000 training, equals $464,000 in hard money. $36,000 playtime plus $6,000 in all-star and award incentives gives him a $506,000 maximum value.

2028 compensation: $200,000 January 15 roster bonus, $219,080 base salary, $40,000 marketing, $15,420 housing, $12,500 travel, $5,000 training, equals 492,000 in hard money. $18,000 playtime plus $6,000 in all-star and award incentives gives him a $516,000 maximum value.

Those three years add up to $1,468,000 million in maximum value over the course of Alexander’s existing deal. He’s comfortable as QB1 in Montreal and also has endorsement deals with companies such as BMW, Duus Nutrition and Popeye’s Supplements in La Belle Province.

Alexander completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 2,024 yards with 10 touchdowns against three interceptions. The dual threat QB added 12 carries for 110 yards with one major along the ground.

The five-foot-11, 210-pound pivot went a perfect 7-0 as a starter in the regular season to set the CFL record for most consecutive wins to begin a career by a quarterback at 11-0. Despite a lingering left hamstring injury, he led Montreal to two playoff wins and an appearance in the 112th Grey Cup.

The rising star produced a perfect 4-0 win-loss record as a starter in 2024 while Cody Fajardo was sidelined with a hamstring injury. He completed 105-of-151 passes (69.5 percent) for 1,347 yards with six touchdowns versus three interceptions while rushing 24 times for 166 yards, 6.6 per carry, plus three majors. His passer rating checked in at 104.9.

Alexander initially signed with the Als in 2022. He suited up for one game in his rookie year, Week 21 against the Toronto Argonauts, completing 8-of-13 passes for 89 yards with one interception while rushing five times for 22 yards and one TD. In his second season, the six-foot, 195-pound QB dressed for 18 games, completing six-of-eight passes for 56 yards.

The 27-year-old feels confident he can come back from his left hamstring injury at 100 percent for the 2026 CFL season.
