Igor Tudor ‘feels support’ and players ‘care’, Bruno says after 15th defeat of Premier League season

Tottenham assistant coach Bruno Saltor says interim boss Igor Tudor will “of course” be given more time by Spurs despite their dire form continuing with a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Tudor, who was sacked by Juventus earlier this season, has guided Spurs to one point from five league matches since being named as Thomas Frank’s surprise replacement after Tottenham ended the Dane’s eight-month tenure.

“We feel the support from everyone at the club and we are just focusing on how we can help the players,” said Bruno, who took post-match press duties because of a family matter affecting Tudor and said Tottenham had been “the better team” before Igor Jesus’s 45th-minute opener.

“Any mistakes we make go against us and we’re not able to capitalise on the opposition mistakes.

“You could see the players care and they are 100% trying their best. But at the moment it’s not enough and we need to minimise any mistakes.”

Tottenham vs Forest: Why Bruno has ‘belief’

Former Chelsea interim coach Bruno said a 1-1 draw at Liverpool last Sunday, when Richarlison equalised for Spurs in the 90th minute, and a second-leg home win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday had been “great performances from the first minute to the last minute”.

“In the first half [against Forest], we should have been at least 1-0 up, if you look at the stats,” claimed the former Brighton & Hove Albion full-back, adding that “little” details are going against his team. “We created clear chances.

“[The fans] were outstanding since the first minute when we were coming in. To the last minute, they stayed.

“They showed their support and it was quite emotional for everyone on the bus. That’s what we need because right now all of us have the same goal, that is to fight until the end of the season and stay in the Premier League – as this club deserves.”

Van de Ven and Spence substitutions ‘tactical’ by Tottenham

Tudor replaced Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence with Destiny Udogie and Lucas Bergvall at half-time as Spurs attempted to avoid being overtaken by the only side separating them from third-bottom West Ham.

“It was a sub with the intention to give more dynamic on the left side and have more legs going forward,” Bruno said when he was asked whether Van de Ven was injured, explaining that “everything was tactical”.

“The players got affected by the rhythm of the game and we couldn’t find that rhythm to create more chances.

“The first 44 minutes were really good – creating chances, getting into the box. In the second half, we were unable to to deal with the weight of the game.”

Winger Mathys Tel is having a potential injury assessed.

Spurs remain the only Premier League side yet to win in the top flight in 2026, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi striking for Forest after the break.

West Ham are immediately behind Spurs by a point after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Sunday.

Tudor was only appointed on February 14 but the former Croatia international’s position is certain to come under scrutiny before his team visit 11th-placed Sunderland.
