Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a positive injury update as he looks to return to action after the international break.

The 41-year-old posted on X, claiming he was “getting better every day” alongside two pictures of him working out. One, in which he was performing leg curls, was a sure sign his hamstring problem is starting to ease.

Ronaldo strained the muscle during Al-Nassr’s 3-1 win at Al-Fayha on February 28, a game in which he missed an early penalty before being withdrawn with nine minutes to go.

Al-Nassr boss Jorge Jesus admitted earlier this month that the injury was worse than the club initially thought, and Ronaldo was left out of the Portugal squad for their international friendlies against Mexico and the United States as a result.

No World Cup worries for injured Ronaldo

It left fans fearing the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star may miss the World Cup but Portugal boss Roberto Martinez offered a reassuring update after naming his squad last week.

“No, he’s not in danger. It’s a minor muscle injury, and we think he can be back in a week or two,” said Martinez.

“Everything Cristiano has done physically this season shows that he’s in great shape.”

Ronaldo has scored 143 goals for Portugal in 226 appearances, making him the all-time highest scorer in international football.

Al-Nassr will be hoping Ronaldo will be fit to return for them when league action resumes in the Saudi Pro League.

    The table-toppers – they hold a three-point advantage over Al-Hilal – face Al-Najma in Riyadh on April 3.
