Emma Johnston, in addition to appearing on her family’s TLC series, is also known for selling jewelry. Recently, fans noted that a product she was selling seemed somewhat familiar. Since then, fans have also been sharing some possible explanations on social media.

Emma Johnston Sells Products Through ‘Emma’s Rings N Things’

Viewers were introduced to the Johnston family through the TLC series 7 Little Johnstons, which premiered in early 2015. The Johnstons are a family of seven who each live with dwarfism.

As introduced on the show, Emma is the youngest member of the family. Additionally, she had been adopted from China when she was around five years old.

Emma is known for her own jewelry store on Etsy, “Emma’s Rings N Things.” Through it, she offers rings, earrings, bracelets, and even stickers.

However, fans recently took issue with an item being sold through Emma’s store. Taking to social media, one fan shared that they thought a set of earrings looked somewhat familiar.

The fan noticed a pair of pink lightning earrings with a silver outline. Taking to Reddit, they shared:

    • “Decided to do a quick Google search of Emma’s rings and things. And these lightning bolt earrings stuck out to me. I knew I saw them from somewhere! Hobby Lobby. She’s charging 40.00 but, on their website, they are on sale for 3.99!”

There Was One Main Difference Between The Two Products

However, one notable difference between Emma’s product and the Hobby Lobby one is that the former appeared to have been attached to hooks. While unconfirmed, if true, it does make sense to charge extra [for] the added hooks, but some fans also thought this would be excessive. Some fans poked fun at this, with one noting, “$40 for putting earring hooks on.”

A few fans mused that Emma could be making use of her name to increase the price. As one fan stated:

    • “Outrageous markup for crappy jewelry. She’s banking on her fame, just like her parents. Emma is such a nice soul. I hope she remains that way.”

One fan also gave another possible explanation for what happened. They shared:

    • “Worth noting that it’s also possible she purchased the charms from a wholesaler, the same one that Hobby Lobby uses. So, [it’s] possible she literally bought these for ~$1, added the earring posts which are about 25¢ when purchased in bulk, and is charging $40.”

Ultimately, fans shared all sorts of reactions. Some commented on their own experience with Emma’s products or noted that they also thought the earrings looked familiar. A few other comments also included:

    • “She doesn’t make anything! She buys it and resells it! I ordered bracelets from her last year and it took forever for her to ship…”
    • “i immediately recognized those as Hobby Lobby charms.”
    • “She also markets them as ‘homemade,’ which is an incredibly generous way to say she added the earring posts.”
    • “The origami, the beads, and this. They’re not lucrative ideas at all.”
