The Astros are going to open the season with Christian Vázquez as their backup to catcher Yainer Diaz, manager Joe Espada tells Matt Kawahara of The Houston Chronicle. César Salazar has been informed he won’t make the team. Since Salazar is out of options, he’ll need to be removed from the 40-man, which means he’ll be traded or placed on waivers in the coming days.
