Joy Behar takes Mondays off from The View. But she’s usually on the talk show for rest of the week. She was fully present at the “Hot Topics” table during an episode this week. But then suddenly disappeared and went MIA during an interview with a star she previously bashed on the show. Keep reading for more on the surprising feud.
The View Host Joy Behar Goes MIA During Interview With Star She Bashed
Joy Behar took part in Tuesday’s “Hot Topics” discussion on the war against Iran. She even stepped in to protect guest host Abby Huntsman from Sunny Hostin. But once the day’s celebrity interview began, she went MIA. The View welcomed the American Idol judges to the table to talk about Season 24 of the singing competition.
Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan appeared on several talk shows this week to promote the season that’s currently airing. But it seems there’s no love lost between Carrie Underwood and Joy Behar. The View host didn’t take part in the interview, sparking rumors of a feud that dates back to last year. What happened?
What She Said About Carrie Underwood
Joy Behar isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She shared her unfiltered thoughts about Carrie Underwood last year. The singer performed at President Trump’s inauguration, which many believe indicated Carrie Underwood’s political alignment. She hasn’t spoken out about supporting President Trump. At the time, she said it was an honor to perform and that she hoped it would bring unity to the country.

But several of The View hosts weren’t having it. They blasted Carrie Underwood on the ABC talk show in January 2025. Joy Behar, in particular, took issue with the singer performing for Trump.
“I would not normalize him. She says, ‘I love our country.’ How do you love your country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon, who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion?” Joy Behar said at the time. Her comments made headlines and sparked a separate feud with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. However, that feud was short-lived and Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned recently for a guest co-hosting stint.
But viewers suspect that Joy Behar still has a grudge against Carrie Underwood and that’s why she went MIA. However, other fans noted that Sara Haines was also absent during the interview. Us Weekly reported that various co-hosts step out of interviews to make room at the table for the celebrity guests.
Carrie Underwood has come under fire from American Idol fans for being too harsh on the contestants. However, she explained on The View that she would give her own children the same advice if they were on the reality competition. Tell us in the comments if you think Joy Behar ditched the interview because of Carrie Underwood or just the logistics of making room at the table.
