Bell Canada and Buzz High Performance Computing (HPC) have announced a partnership to expand the Bell AI Fabric through a new data centre in Merritt, B.C.
Expected to come online in the coming weeks, “the facility represents the next step in Bell AI Fabric’s data centre supercluster, providing Canadian organizations with the high-performance computing capacity needed to drive the next generation of AI innovation,” Bell said.
According to the company, Buzz HPC has secured 6.5 megawatts (MW) of compute capacity at the new Bell AI Fabric Facility, with more power potentially coming in the future.
Bell states that the partnership builds on its previously announced partnership with Buzz HPC to deploy GPU clusters in Bell AI Fabric’s facilities, and on Bell’s major AI fabric investment announcement from last year, which will bring six new data centres in B.C., including this one in Merritt.
Bell has been pushing for more AI-powered solutions as of late. Earlier this month, I reported that Bell announced a new 300 MW data centre in rural Saskatchewan and brought in Coveo to streamline its AI infrastructure.
