Warner Bros. Pictures has just dropped a first-look teaser trailer for The End of Oak Street, the upcoming sci-fi film by It Follows director David Robert Mitchell and starring Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery.
In Mitchell’s script, a family begins to pick up on strange occurrences in their seemingly ordinary hometown.
J.J. Abrams, Bad Robot’s Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, David Robert Mitchell, Matt Jackson and Tommy Harper serve as producers for the feature, alongside executive producers Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, Joanne Lee and Leeann Stonebreaker.
Hathaway has just stepped off the set of the highly anticipated The Devil Wears Prada 2, the sequel to 2006’s fashion-based comedy-drama classic. Meanwhile, McGregor recently appeared in Niclas Larsson’s 2023 comedy-drama Mother, Couch, an adaptation of Jerker Virdborg’s 2020 book Mamma i soffa and was signed onto the project following brief reports Oscar Isaac was eyed to star alongside Hathaway in May 2023. Isaac turned the film down, as confirmed in February 2023.
Director Mitchell also has credits for 2010’s The Myth of the American Sleepover and 2018’s Under the Crystal Lake. He is also currently working on the sequel to his 2014 supernatural horror It Follows, titled They Follow, which will see star Maika Monroe reprise her role from the original film in a story set ten years on.
Official Synopsis | After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.
Throughout production, the project was titled Flowervale Street.
The End of Oak Street hits UK, Irish and U.S cinemas on 14th August.
