Netflix may be trying to advance its gaming experience for users, as it looks like a voice chat feature has been discovered within the Netflix app v9.60.0 code. This new feature appears to use Agora’s cross-platform voice chat API and could possibly integrate with the phone as a controller system. While most Netflix users are on the platform for movies and TV shows, Netflix now has over 120 available games included with subscriptions.
The more popular games include GTA: The Trilogy, Hades, Dead Cells, Storyteller, Oxenfree, and Stranger Things 3: The Game. There have been signals of a new voice chat feature over the last few weeks, but now, with the Netflix app v9.60.0 for Android, we have a better understanding of the possibility of this feature being added to Netflix. As seen by Android Authority, the Netflix app v9.60.0 for Android includes code that says “Voice Chat Active,” “voice_chat_channel,” and “Tap to return to game.”
However, voice chat is usually associated with multiplayer games, serving as a way for players to communicate with one another while streaming the same title all at once. And with Netflix’s limited catalogue of multiplayer games, we’ll just have to see how it plans to implement a potential voice chat feature into its platform. As for now, there has been no word on the release of this feature from Netflix.
