The moment in question happened during his appearance on “Live With Kelly and Mark” on March 23. Ripa, alongside her husband Mark Consuelos, praised Mandel’s youthful look, saying it “doesn’t make any sense” that he was 70.
Mandel, however, didn’t take the compliment well at the time, pushing back and suggesting, “It’s like saying you’re smart for a stupid person.”

“Not only do I want to say, ‘I’m sorry,’ to Kelly, but … you’re right. You’re absolutely right, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it that way,” Mandel added about his reaction to the actress’s compliment.
