Grant Ellis knows a thing or two about controversy. His season of The Bachelor wasn’t well-received by viewers. Many felt that they never got to know him on Jenn Tran’s season. His brief engagement to final rose winner Juliana Pasquarosa didn’t endear him to fans, either. But he shared his thoughts on the cancellation rumors after ABC dumped Taylor Frankie Paul as the next Bachelorette. Keep reading to find out his take on the drama.
Bachelorette Yanked From Air After Taylor Frankie Paul Scandal
Taylor Frankie Paul was supposed to reinvigorate The Bachelorette after Jenn Tran’s lackluster season. TFP was already known to reality TV fans after four seasons on Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. However, her 2023 domestic violence arrest was put back in the spotlight in March.
Then, days before Season 22 was set to premiere, a shocking video leaked that showed the violent encounter that landed her in jail. The video showed Taylor Frankie Paul hitting and kicking her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. Even worse, she threw bar stools at him and one accidentally hit the daughter she has from a previous relationship.
Hours after the footage came out, ABC made the decision to scrap Taylor Frankie Paul’s season. Rumors began to swirl that it may be the end of the franchise.
Grant Ellis Reacts To Cancellation Rumors
Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen are under investigation for violent incidents that happened in 2024 and another that happened in February. She recently presented evidence to the judge that she was also a victim of domestic violence. The former couple filed protective orders against each other and return to court at the end of April.
In the meantime, Grant Ellis shared his thoughts on the cancellation rumors. The U.S. Sun caught up with the former Bachelor at an event in Hollywood. “When you have a franchise that big, sometimes things slip,” he said about the video going under ABC’s radar.

As for the cancellation rumors, Grant Ellis doesn’t see the popular franchise ending. “I’m disappointed, but I know they’ll bounce back,” he said. If the show does come back for another season, he said that ABC has to make up for the drama surrounding Taylor Frankie Paul.
“I think whatever they do, number one is they have to make it up to the fans. Give them what they want, which is a love story without scandals and dramas,” the Bachelor star said.
Feels Sympathy For Taylor Frankie Paul
Grant Ellis previously told TMZ that ABC made the right decision in yanking Season 22. “I think if they would have aired this season, it would have left room for interpretation, and you know, they did the right thing,” he said at the time.
He told the U.S. Sun that he feels for what Taylor Frankie Paul is going through. I think them taking a stance is a big thing. So they just need to recoup it – but I hope Taylor Frankie Paul is okay,” Grant Ellis said.
While ABC removed The Bachelorette from its spring schedule, some fans still hope Taylor Frankie Paul’s season airs someday. Tell us in the comments if you think the franchise will be canceled over the scandal.
