Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene once called for Rep. Ilhan Omar to be deported, but now that they’re both on the same side when it comes to Israel, it appears that all is forgiven.
Ms. Omar, Minnesota Democrat, had warm words for her erstwhile nemesis, saying the Georgia Republican deserves credit for cutting ties with President Trump and condemning Israel over the Gaza War.
Ms. Omar also praised “woke right” media personality Candace Owens, another former Trump supporter who has morphed into a virulent critic of the president and Israel.
The congresswoman called on Democrats to embrace the MAGA turncoats.
“The fact that they have gotten off the sycophant train and are saying, ‘We trusted the wrong person, we are sorry for that, and we need all of you to wake up to the fact that you also trusted the wrong person,’ I think is an important thing for us to put our arms around,” said Ms. Omar in a Tuesday interview on the left-wing Pod Save America podcast.
The prominent member of the House Democratic “Squad” said she spoke with Ms. Greene before her resignation in January.
“I haven’t called her, but before she left, I found her on the House floor and thanked her for her support in ending the genocide, her willingness to speak up about what the people in Gaza have experienced, and what our tax dollars have allowed to take place,” Ms. Omar told host Tommy Vietor.

By “genocide,” she referred to the Gaza War. Israel declared war against Hamas-run Gaza after terrorists crossed into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, massacring 1,200 Israeli and other civilians, sexually assaulting women, and taking 251 people hostage.
Ms. Omar also praised Ms. Greene and Ms. Owens for speaking out against the president, saying they have gone beyond criticizing his policies to declaring, “I’m done with you.”
“I think we should give them credit for that, the fact that they’ve had this wake-up call to finally seeing this con man, this corrupt, chaotic man for what he is,” Ms. Omar said. “The fact that they understand he never really had any principles outside of uplifting his ego.”
Ms. Omar’s praise for Ms. Greene, who accused the Democrat in 2024 of being a foreign agent for Somalia, underscores how figures on the far left and far right have united over their opposition to Mr. Trump’s foreign-policy agenda, starting with his support for Israel.
Mr. Trump accused Ms. Greene of being a “traitor” after she broke with him on issues ranging from national security to the release of the Epstein files, prompting her to leave office with a year left in her term.
The former congresswoman has since become a favorite of left-tilting media outlets, making appearances on CNN, PBS and ABC’s “The View.”
She has recently called for Mr. Trump to be removed from office under the 25th Amendment, saying “his mental capacity needs to be examined” and that his rhetoric has been “shocking.”
“I do think it should be discussed, although it’s very unlikely the 25th Amendment will be used,” she said in a Wednesday interview on PBS.
