Qualcomm and Specs have announced a multi-year agreement to power upcoming generations of Specs with Qualcomm’s SOC.
Currently, the Snap Spectacles use Qualcomm’s processor to power the current smartglasses. And use the company’s Snapdragon XR1 chip alongside the Snapdragon XR platforms.
The press release says that the Snapdragon XR platforms will offer a computational foundation for Specs, which will combine AI and high-performance, low-power processing and can enable a context-aware experience directly on-device.
Specs will offer a standalone experience, with AR glasses designed to integrate the digital world and the physical world, which will allow users to see, hear and interact with digital content in the environment. Specs plans to launch Specs to consumers later this year.
In 2024, I demoed Snap Spectacles. This model was only available via the Spectacles Developer Program, but the experience was really cool. I was even able to join my friend’s Spectacles experience, which let him draw the words “Hi, Dean” which I could see on my end.
