Margo’s Got Money Troubles [Apple Original]

After an affair with her junior college English professor leaves her pregnant, Margo starts a surprisingly successful OnlyFans business.

Based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 novel of the same name, Margo’s Got Money Troubles was developed by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) and stars Elle Fanning (Sentimental Value), Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation), Michelle Pfeiffer (Scarface), Michael Angarano (This is Us) and Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies).

CBC Gem

National Canadian Film Day

April 15 was National Canadian Film Day, a major celebration of our homegrown cinema that included thousands of events across the country. As part of all of this, CBC Gem has a big collection of Canadian movies you can watch for free, like Matt Johnson’s BlackBerry, David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, Clement Virgo’s Brothers, and Jay Baruchel’s Goon. The Long Walk

In an alternate dystopian 20th century, boys are forced to take part in a non-stop walking contest to avoid death.

Based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel of the same name, The Long Walk was directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games series) and stars Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza), David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus), Garrett Wareing (Ransom Canyon), Tut Nyot (The Dumping Ground), Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire) and Mark Hamill (Star Wars series).

Roommates [Netflix Original]

Netflix Canada premiere date: Friday, April 17
Genre: Comedy

A shy college freshman becomes friends with a popular girl, only for their relationship to spiral into a war of passive aggression.

Roommates was directed by Brantford, Ont.’s Chandler Levack (I Like Movies) and stars Sadie Sandler (You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah), Chloe East (Heretic), Sarah Sherman (Saturday Night Live), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Nick Kroll (Big Mouth) and Toronto’s Billy Bryk (Hell of a Summer).

Stream Roommates on Netflix. It’s also worth noting that Levack has another movie debuting this weekend, Mile End Kicks. Now playing in theatres, the acclaimed Canadian film is a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama about a young music journalist from Toronto who moves to Montreal with the hope of writing a book about Canadian Alanis Morissette’s album Jagged Little Pill.

Balls Up [Amazon Original]

After sparking a global scandal at the World Cup in Brazil, marketing executives must find a way to salvage their careers and get home alive.

Balls Up was directed by Peter Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber) and stars Mark Wahlberg (Boogie Nights), Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell), Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) and Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order).
