Kyndal Inskeep has been using her vocal talents to compete on Season 24 of American Idol. Recently, she spoke about her current time on the show, including a recent performance. She also discussed a critique she got from series winner-turned-judge Carrie Underwood.
Kyndal Inskeep Recently Performed Janis Joplin On American Idol
Viewers saw American Idol come back for Season 24 earlier this year. The season finale is expected to air this May.
Kyndal Inskeep, also known mononymously as Kyndal, is one of the season’s contestants. Throughout the season, she has performed songs like “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls and “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin, as well as the traditional hymn “Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus.”
In a pre-performance video package on the show, Kyndal recently talked about her performance on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Week. At the time, she appeared to struggle during her Joplin cover.
At the time, Carrie Underwood shared, “You gave up on yourself towards the end.” However, the judge complimented her at the end, noting, “Your voice is amazing.”
Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie appeared to agree with Underwood, with Bryan noting, “We all have our rough voice weeks.”
Speaking with TV Insider, Kyndal shared that she wanted to be upfront about having an off week. At the time, she shared, “That’s a huge part of my artistry.”
Kyndal Suspected That The ‘Net’ Would ‘Roast’ Her For A Certain Response
“I’m always going to be 100% honest and real and raw with wherever I am. That’s definitely a way that America can get to know me better. And that’s what I promote, you know? That’s what I promote as an artist, as well, with my music, my songs.” When asked, she also claimed that her voice was “really tired.”
Kyndal also took time to discuss Underwood’s comments. As she noted, “You know, I don’t think I ‘gave up’ at the end. I think I pushed through as hard as I possibly could. The ‘net is probably gonna absolutely roast me tonight and tomorrow [for saying this], and that’s fine.”
Kyndal is set to appear on the April 20 episode, which will see Jennifer Hudson as a mentor. Pushing forward, Kydal expressed, “We’re still here, and it’s all good. We’ll see you next week.”
Notably, Kyndal already has some experience being part of a musical competition series. Reality show fans previously saw Kyndal compete on Season 17 of The Voice. While part of Gwen Stefani’s team, she finished in the Top 20.
