Manchester City could move to the top of the Premier League table and relegate Burnley in the process when the two sides meet at Turf Moor on Wednesday night.

The Citizens arrive full of momentum after a crucial 2-1 win over title rivals Arsenal, a result that has firmly swung the title race in their favour.

Pep Guardiola’s side have now lost just one of their last 20 league matches and remain one of the most consistent teams in the division heading into the final stretch.

City also boast an exceptional record against promoted sides and have dominated this fixture in recent years, winning 14 of their last 15 league meetings with Burnley.

Burnley, meanwhile, are battling to avoid relegation but find themselves in a precarious position. Scott Parker’s side were beaten 4-1 by Nottingham Forest last time out, continuing a miserable run that has seen them win just once in their last 24 Premier League matches.

The Clarets are also winless in their last 12 home league games and could see relegation confirmed depending on other results.

Team news for Burnley v Manchester City

Burnley remain without several key players, including Josh Cullen and Zeki Amdouni, while Axel Tuanzebe faces a late fitness test. Parker could opt for a more defensive setup, potentially deploying a back five in an attempt to contain City’s attacking threat.

Zian Flemming is expected to lead the line, supported by Jaidon Anthony, while midfield responsibilities could fall to James Ward-Prowse, Florentino Luis and Lesley Ugochukwu.

Manchester City are still without Josko Gvardiol, while both Ruben Dias and Rodri are doubts heading into the fixture. If Rodri is unavailable, Nico Gonzalez is likely to step into midfield.

Bernardo Silva and Rayan Cherki should retain their places after strong performances against Arsenal, while Erling Haaland is expected to spearhead the attack, having enjoyed significant success against Burnley in previous meetings.

Expected line-ups for Burnley v Manchester City

Burnley: Dubravka; Walker, Ekdal, Laurent, Esteve, Hartman; Florentino, Ugochukwu, Ward-Prowse; Anthony, Flemming

Manchester City: Donnarumma; Nunes, Khusanov, Guehi, O’Reilly; Gonzalez, Bernardo; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland

Where to watch Burnley v Manchester City: TV channel, live stream

The match will be available to watch live in the UK on Sky Sports, with coverage also accessible via the Sky Go app.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00pm GMT on Wednesday.

The stats for Burnley v Manchester City

    • Manchester City have lost just one of their last 20 Premier League matches
    • City have won 14 of their last 15 league meetings with Burnley
    • Burnley have won just one of their last 24 Premier League games
    • The Clarets are winless in their last 12 home league matches
    • Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 29 matches against promoted sides

Prediction for Burnley v Manchester City

Given the gulf in quality and form, Manchester City should have too much for a struggling Burnley side and take another significant step in the title race.

    Prediction: Burnley 0-3 Manchester City
