American Idol is coming down to the wire, but one cast member is opening up about their strenuous work schedule. The show does not appear to be all that easy, and in the past, they had to deal with intense criticism. American Idol Is Anything But Fun
It is no secret that the winners of American Idol do not get everything that they are promised. In fact, it is almost better not to win. Some of those who came in second, third, or fourth went on to win Grammys, Oscars, or more. Yet, Kelly Clarkson, who was the first winner and one of the hottest singers in the world, did not get what she thought she would from the show. She shared that she never received her car, which Idol stated she would. Moreover, Kelly did not get the one million dollars she was promised.
So, why be on the show? It also appears there are several misconceptions about what the stars have to go through every week. Allegedly, viewers believe that the contestants just pop in on show night, perform, and that’s all, but that is completely false. Braden Rumfelt from Murphy, North Carolina, set the record straight about the strenuous tasks that they go through every week. He likened being on the show to having a “full-time job,” noting some are on set at “dawn.” Braden went on to break down the whole schedule of the contestants for the public:
“Vocal coach, run through the words, we got dry blocks, we got a dress rehearsal, we have to go to the dressing rooms and stuff and get fitted for all the clothes, meeting with creative, talking about what the background is going to look. The song … usually we spend hours and hours on the song.”
There is also lighting and choreography; essentially, it sounds like a Broadway production. However, he is very grateful to all who voted for him, as he is now in the Top 7.
America’s Winner
Despite all of the hard work, American Idol is worth it for those who really want to be there. Fans and followers who saw what Braden Rumfelt posted were incredibly encouraging of him. Moreover, they shared that they wanted him to be their winner:
