Inter Milan let a two-goal lead slip as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Torino, the Nerazzurri missing the chance to all but seal the Serie A title.

A favourable away fixture offered Inter the opportunity to re-establish a 12-point lead at the top with four games to go, and it looked as if they would take if after Marcus Thuram headed in from Federico Dimarco’s deep cross and Yann Aurel Bisseck rose highest at a corner to double their lead.

But Giovanni Simeone’s lofted finish gave Torino hope and, after Carlos Augusto was ruled to have handled in the area following a VAR review, Nikola Vlasic levelled 11 minutes from the end of normal time with an emphatic penalty.

Inter can win the Scudetto when they host Parma next Sunday.

Elsewhere, Como kept their Champions League dreams alive with a 2-0 win at Genoa. Cesc Fabregas’ side trail fourth-placed Juventus by just three points after the Bianconeri played out a 0-0 draw with AC Milan at San Siro. The day’s other game saw Fiorentina and Sassuolo draw 0-0.

    Dortmund seal Champions League place

Borussia Dortmund secured their place in next season’s Champions League with a 4-0 win over Freiburg.

Maximilian Beier, Serhou Guirassy and Ramy Bensebaini gave second-placed Dortmund complete command with first-half goals, with Fabio Silva adding gloss to the scoreline late on.

    Borussia Dortmund celebrate

They are 10 points clear of fifth-placed Hoffenheim with three games left of the Bundesliga season. Stuttgart are only ahead of Hoffenheim on goal difference after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Werder Bremen.

Yellow Submarine set for top four

Villarreal will almost certainly be playing Champions League football next season following their 2-1 win over Celta Vigo.

Gerard Moreno’s penalty and Nicolas Pepe’s 29th-minute effort proved enough for third-placed Villarreal, who are 15 points clear of fifth-placed Real Betis with five games to go.

Elsewhere in LaLiga, Sevilla’s survival hopes suffered another setback as Alejandro Catena’s 99th-minute header condemned them to a 2-1 loss at Osasuna.

Sevilla are a point shy of safety, but Elche are now four clear of the drop following a 2-1 win at bottom club Oviedo.

There was more late drama at Vallecas, where Alevao scored a 99th-minute equaliser to earn Rayo Vallecano a 3-3 draw with Copa del Rey winners Real Sociedad.

    Lille move level with Lyon

Lille are level on points with third-placed Lyon in the race for Champions League football in Ligue 1 after a 1-0 win at Paris FC.

It was a tale of two penalties as Matias Fernandez-Pardo converted from the spot for Les Dogues, before Ilan Kebbal failed from 12 yards for the hosts. Paris then had Pierre Lees-Melou sent off for a second bookable offence.

Fourth place would be good enough for a place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, with a top-three finish securing league phase football.

But Lille are still looking over their shoulders at Rennes, who are a point behind them in fifth after Valentin Rongier scored in the 92nd minute to give them a 2-1 win over Nantes in the Breton derby.

Marseille are four points behind Lille after they were held to a 1-1 draw by local rivals Nice, who are five points above the relegation play-off place thanks to Elye Wahi’s late penalty.

Andrew Omobamidele was the hero in the 99th minute for Strasbourg as they scored twice in stoppage time to win 3-2 at Lorient.

Bottom club Metz earned a stay of execution as Gauthier Hein scored a 85th-minute equaliser in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Le Havre. Metz came from behind four times to earn a share of the spoils and avoid their relegation being confirmed this weekend but, nine points adrift of third-bottom Auxerre with three games left, they are near-certainties for the drop.
