Another high-profile actor is joining the ’80s crime-thriller My Darling California, the next project for writer-director Elijah Bynum (Magazine Dreams).
According to a report from Deadline, Chris Evans (Avengers: Doomsday, Materialists) is now on board for the film, taking over for Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Dune franchise), who dropped out due to scheduling.
Evans joins an already impressive cast lineup that includes Oscar Winner Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Chris Pine (Hell or High Water, Star Trek franchise), Don Cheadle (Ocean’s franchise), Charles Melton (May December) and Oscar Winner Mikey Madison (Anora).
The logline for My Darling California is:
“Set in Los Angeles, 1980, the film will chart how a single crime weaves together the lives of a TV host, his restless wife, a country music idol, two small-time crooks and an ex-con, all of whom are chasing the promise of a better life.”
Anton is financing the film, which will reportedly head to the popular Cannes Film Market to continue international sales next month, coinciding with the Cannes Film Festival.
Production on My Darling California is also said to be starting in late summer/September. A release date is TBD.
Evans will next be seen in Sacrifice, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, and reprises his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, in cinemas on December 17th.
