BLACKPINK has made streaming history on Spotify, becoming the girl group with the most songs to reach 1 billion streams each on the platform. The K-pop superstars now hold three tracks that have crossed the billion-stream threshold, officially surpassing the previous record held by Fifth Harmony.

Chart Data shared the milestone achievement on X this week. The music statistics account wrote: “BLACKPINK becomes the girl group with the most songs with 1 billion streams each on Spotify (3). They surpass Fifth Harmony.”

This streaming feat puts BLACKPINK in rarefied air among girl groups worldwide. The billion-stream club isn’t easy to join – it represents massive global reach and sustained listening power across different markets and demographics.

While Chart Data didn’t specify which three BLACKPINK songs achieved the milestone, the group’s biggest hits include “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” and “How You Like That.” Each of these tracks became global phenomena, racking up hundreds of millions of views on YouTube alongside their Spotify success.

Fifth Harmony previously held the girl group record, though the exact number of their billion-stream songs wasn’t specified in the announcement. The American group, which disbanded in 2018, found massive success with hits like “Work from Home” and “Worth It” during their active years.

BLACKPINK’s streaming dominance reflects their unique position as global superstars. The quartet – Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa – has consistently broken barriers for K-pop acts, becoming the first Korean girl group to perform at Coachella and maintaining a massive international fanbase.

Their success on Spotify specifically shows how streaming platforms have become crucial for measuring global music impact. Unlike traditional chart systems that focus on specific countries, Spotify streams represent worldwide listening habits across 180+ markets.

The achievement comes during an interesting period for BLACKPINK. While the group continues to break records as a unit, individual members have been exploring solo projects. Jennie has been building her acting career, Lisa launched her own label, Rosé has been working on new music, and Jisoo has been balancing solo activities with acting.

This streaming record also highlights the continued global expansion of K-pop. What started as a primarily Korean and Asian phenomenon has become truly worldwide, with groups like BLACKPINK leading the charge into Western markets.

For context, reaching 1 billion streams on any platform is considered a major milestone in the music industry. It typically takes years of consistent listening and often requires a song to transcend its original audience and become a broader cultural moment.

BLACKPINK’s three billion-stream songs represent not just impressive numbers, but cultural impact. These tracks didn’t just chart well – they became part of the global music conversation, introducing millions of listeners to K-pop for the first time.

The group’s Spotify success also demonstrates the power of their international strategy. From the beginning, BLACKPINK has released music with global audiences in mind, often incorporating English lyrics and collaborating with Western producers.

As streaming continues to dominate how people consume music, records like this one become increasingly meaningful. They show which artists can truly connect with listeners worldwide, regardless of language barriers or cultural differences.

With this latest milestone, BLACKPINK continues to cement their status as one of the most influential girl groups of their generation. Whether they’ll add more billion-stream songs to their collection remains to be seen, but their current achievement sets a high bar for other acts to follow.
