President Donald Trump recently met with King Charles and Queen Camilla during their recent state visit to the United States. However, a source recently shared that the president had a few things to say about another member of the royal family. This was the king’s daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle.
President Donald Trump Made His Comments After Hosting Meghan Markle’s Royal In-Laws
King Charles III and Queen Camilla made a four-day state visit to the United States from April 27-30. Hosted by President Donald Trump, this was in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. During this trip, the king visited Washington, D.C., Virginia, and New York.
Robert Hardman, author of Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. Her Story, visited the Oval Office on April 30, just before the royal couple returned to the United Kingdom. Having presented the president with a copy of his book, he later recounted what the president shared with him.
According to Hardman, as Trump flipped through the pages, he took a swipe at Meghan Markle, who is married to King Charles’ son, Prince Harry. Appearing to have some sympathy towards the king’s son, he asked, “Can Harry make a comeback?”
Meghan Markle, originally an actress known for her work on Suits, married Prince Harry in 2018, giving her the title of Duchess of Sussex. In 2020, the two stepped down as active working royals, working in California.
This Isn’t The First Time Trump Shared His Opinion About The Duchess Of Sussex
As noted in a Daily Mail article written by Hardman, Trump noted that “too many things” likely got in the way of Harry returning to his royal duties. He then quipped, “That wife of his. Boy, what she’s done to that guy.”
It was then that the president reportedly shared some speculations about Markle. He also theorized that Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, “blocked out” Meghan from the royal family. He also felt that Harry and Meghan were “clearly unhappy” with the current state of affairs.

This isn’t the first time Trump has shared a less-than-flattering opinion of Markle. As previously reported, back in 2025, when there had been speculation that Trump would deport Prince Harry, he expressed sympathy towards him over his marriage.
Speaking with The New York Post, Trump mused, “I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.” He also shared, “I think poor Harry is being led around by the nose.”
