Jimmy Fallon traded his late-night desk for a Formula 1 paddock this weekend, and it sounds like he had an absolute blast. The Tonight Show host showed up trackside for a full F1 race weekend. He spent the trip with Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar. Oh, and he matched his watch collection to the occasion. Of course he did.
Fallon posted about it on X on Sunday. He wrote: “How my weekend is going: @F1, @Max33Verstappen, @Isack_Hadjar, @redbullracing + @FordRacing, and some watches to match! Ready for more @F1 tomorrow.”
The post pulled in over 1,600 likes and 129 retweets. Fallon clearly came to have a good time, and the F1 world seemed happy to have him along for the ride.
Verstappen needs no introduction in racing circles. He’s one of Formula 1’s biggest names, and he’s dominated the sport for years at Red Bull Racing. Isack Hadjar is the newer face in the paddock. He’s a young Red Bull driver making a name for himself in the sport. Having both of them in the same snapshot with a late-night TV host is a pretty cool way to spend a Sunday.
Ford Racing also got a shoutout in Fallon’s post. Ford has been building out its presence in the F1 ecosystem in recent years. The sport has grown its American footprint fast. Events with this kind of celebrity turnout are a big part of that story.
But honestly? The watch detail is what makes this post so very Fallon. The man did not just show up. He coordinated watches to match the F1 theme. That’s the kind of extra, enthusiastic energy his fans love. He brings his whole self to everything he does. On a comedy sketch stage or in a pit lane, Fallon’s enthusiasm is never half-speed.
He planned to come back the next day. That says a lot. This wasn’t a quick celebrity cameo. He was genuinely into the whole experience.
F1 has been pulling in more celebrity fans over the past few years. A lot of credit goes to the Netflix series Drive to Survive. That show turned casual viewers into full-on racing enthusiasts. Fallon feels like exactly the kind of person to binge it and then book a trackside trip. Seeing it live was probably the natural next step.
He’s no stranger to sports fandom, either. Fallon has been a visible presence at New York Giants games and major sporting events for years. Adding Formula 1 to the lineup feels completely on-brand for him.
For Verstappen and Hadjar, having a high-profile TV host in their orbit doesn’t hurt. Red Bull Racing has always been smart about its image and cultural reach. A fun, friendly face like Fallon showing up and posting about it organically is priceless exposure.
Here’s hoping some Tonight Show content comes out of all this. A Fallon segment filmed in the F1 paddock would be seriously entertaining. He’s known for pulling off great remote bits and games in unusual settings. A pit lane challenge or a watch-off with a race driver feels like exactly the kind of bit he’d pitch in a heartbeat.
For now, Fallon’s weekend looked like a certified good time. Fast cars, famous drivers, and a very on-theme watch collection.
