At last year’s Google I/O 2025, the tech giant revealed that it was working together with Samsung on new smartglasses. Moreover, these two huge tech companies said they’d work with eyewear brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster.

Now, a year later at I/O 2026, we’re finally seeing the fruits of those partnerships. These glasses use Android XR, and compared to the Xreal smartglasses, they are wireless.

Gentle Monster (left) and Warby Parker (right) smartglasses.

The Gentle Monster Android XR glasses are slim, and they sort of remind me of the goggles you’d wear underwater. They’re a pretty interesting style and not something I’d consider wearing. There are cameras on the side of each lens for pictures and video content.

The Warby Parker smartglasses, on the other hand, offer more of a typical glasses look, and aren’t as bulky as the Meta Ray-Bans.

Google and Samsung have positioned these glasses to be controllable with your voice, like the Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses. You’ll be able to access navigation by asking Gemini for directions, and you can even ask for personalized suggestions. And with Gemini Automation, you’ll be able to place orders or book a ride with your glasses.

Additionally, expect notification summaries for texts and emails, as well as real-time translation with audio that can match the other person’s voice. You’ll also be able to translate text on menus and more.

However, Samsung hasn’t revealed tech specs like camera sensors, battery capacity and more. These glasses are set to launch this fall in select markets, and we will share more details in the coming months.
