Meghan Markle is walking down memory lane as her marriage gets closer to a decade.
The Duchess of Sussex marked her 8th wedding anniversary, reminiscing on the beautiful moments of the day in black and white photos. The special star-studded event filled many faces with smiles, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the lovebirds.
Meghan Markle walked down the aisle to Prince Harry on May 19, 2018, in St. George’s Chapel. The pair who have stepped away from their royal office welcomed two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, since tying the knot.
Meghan uploaded a carousel of photos in social media posts showing that love is truly kept in photographs.
The never-before-seen photos captured moments of the couple’s first dance at their wedding party after the church ceremony, where they were pronounced man and wife by the Archbishop.
The first photo dump, which the Duchess of Sussex simply captioned “Eight years ago today…[crescent moon emoji]” shows the couple dancing, seemingly to the music played by the orchestra pictured behind them.
In some of the photos, they were seen having their arms wrapped around each other, appearing to slow dance, while others show Meghan and Harry seemingly jiving to the beat.
One slide captured a cute moment where they shared an intimate kiss, and in another, Meghan is pictured in a dip into her husband’s arms.
The post had Wilson Pickett’s “Land of 1000 Dances” as the background music. Fans’ thoughts could not be penned under the post as comments were turned off, but the actress’s first post has gotten over 3000 reshares.
The Duchess Of Sussex Recalls Her ‘Beautiful In White’ Moment
Meghan uploaded a second post shortly after her first in honor of her 8th anniversary. While the first post captured the lively moments at the wedding party, her second post had a more solemn feel, capturing different views of the ceremony in the Chapel.
The post, which has Paula Abdul’s “Forever Your Girl” playing in the background, has gotten over 5000 reshares. The 12-slide photo dump starts off with a black-and-white picture of Meghan in her wedding dress and veil, holding her bouquet while standing in front of Harry, who looks sharp in his outfit.
Meghan gave credit for the pictures to “the wonderful Chris Allerton” in her caption. One of the slides showed the aerial view of the Chapel packed with guests, and another of the couple raising their glasses to a toast.
The final picture in the slide captured a lovely shared kiss between Meghan and Harry, holding their wine glasses as they locked lips.
The Unique Way Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Said Their Vows
Meghan, in an interview with Oprah, previously claimed that she and Prince Harry, whom she met on a blind date in 2016, exchanged their vows three days before their wedding ceremony at St George’s Chapel.
She shared that they called the Archbishop, saying they wanted their union to be private before the highly televised ceremony.
Reality Tea reports that Meghan also alleged that the Archbishop of Canterbury led the private ceremony at Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace. The venue was a no-brainer as it was their home at the time.
However, according to the office of the General Registrar, their wedding date is listed officially on their marriage certificate as May 19, 2018, with Prince Charles and Meghan’s mother as witnesses.
Archbishop Justin Welby refuted the Duchess of Sussex’s claims, stating that he met the couple “in a private and pastoral setting” before the d-day.
Welby explained that the legal wedding certificate, which he signed, shows May 19 as their wedding date. If it were false and he knowingly signed it, the Archbishop “would have committed a serious criminal offense.”
Meghan Views Her Union As A ‘Modern Fairytale’

The former TV star shared her lengthy wedding day speech in the final episode of their Netflix series released in 2022.
In the speech, she described her love story with Harry from the way they met to the point where they decided their love was a forever deal.
“Let’s call this a modern fairytale. Once upon a time, there was a girl from LA. Some people called her ‘an actress’. And there was a guy from London. Some people called him ‘a prince,’” part of the speech red.
She went on to detail how they met in London on July 3, 2016, and Harry brought cupcakes for their second date to celebrate America’s independence, a bittersweet celebration she described as “ironic.”
In a later interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan compared her fairytale marriage to “The Little Mermaid,” explaining that she, just like Ariel in the show, lost her voice after marrying into royalty.
Mirror reported that the mom of two noted that she resonated with the character’s experience on the show, noting that in the end, she gets her voice back.
Prince Harry Had His Eyes Fixed On Meghan Markle On Their Wedding Day

It was previously reported that Harry’s thoughts were on his wife as she walked down the aisle on that fateful day eight years ago. The Duke of Sussex recalled that in the moment when he saw his bride walking towards him at the chapel in Windsor Castle, a string of thoughts ran through his mind.
“Look at me and look what I’ve got. Look what I’ve found. The world was watching us, but when we were actually at the altar, as far as I was concerned, it was just the two of us,” Harry shared in a Netflix documentary.
Despite the hall packed with guests, friends, family, the music, and everything that could distract the Duke, he maintained that his eyes were locked on his bride as then Prince Charles walked her down the aisle. As they met at the altar, Harry complimented Meghan’s look, saying, “You look amazing,” to which she replied, “Thank you.”
Meghan also echoed a similar sentiment in the interview, saying that they are really good at finding each other in the midst of chaos. She stressed that they focus on each other, not because everything else does not matter, but because it feels temporary.
Happy eighth anniversary, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry!
