Arsenal have unveiled plans for a title parade around Islington on May 31 to mark their first Premier League title success in 22 years.

The Gunners were assured of the crown last night after Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth, sparking wild scenes of celebration from the players at the club’s training ground with fans also gathering outside the Emirates Stadium, where they partied long into the night.

The club say a more formal event will take place a week on Sunday, the day after their Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest.

We are delighted to announce that we will come together with our supporters and community for a special parade, starting from 2pm on Sunday 31 May 👇

An Arsenal statement read: “We are PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! Thank you to our supporters for being with us every step of the way on this incredible journey – showing up and turning out for each other and taking us back to where we belong.

“You’ve all stood behind us and willed us on to this point, and we cannot wait to lift the trophy at Selhurst Park in front of our travelling supporters after the final whistle this weekend.

“We are delighted to announce that we will come together with our supporters and community for a special parade around our home borough of Islington, starting from 2pm on Sunday 31 May, to celebrate our title.

“This follows our Champions League Final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest on Saturday 30 May, at 5pm (UK time). Should we be successful in this game, our parade will also celebrate this historic triumph.”

PSG in the Champions League final is the last assignment for Arsenal

It promises to be a memorable end to the season for Arsenal, whose final-day visit to Crystal Palace on Sunday will now be a celebratory event with nothing on the line.

Both clubs have major European finals to look forward to – Palace are in the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano next Wednesday – and will undoubtedly use the opportunity to rest players.

If Arsenal can get past PSG then that will merely increase the party mood for the red half of North London.

The statement added: “This will be a major public event, and we anticipate large numbers of supporters will turn out in the local area.

“We hope you are able to join our celebrations on the day. Local residents and businesses should be advised that the event will lead to disruption across the borough that will involve road closures and parking suspensions. You may also find it difficult to move normally around the borough or pass through the route.

“We will communicate more details on the parade closer to the time, which will only be published on our website and other official Arsenal channels.”
