From the times i was writing about the rising star of Charli XCX without any real success to “Brat” seems like ages away.And after that came her ost era for “Wuthering Heights” that didn’t go very well till she released “Rock Music” and today her brand new “SS26”. It’s a song about capitalism and the end of the world feeling we’re all living through currently because of it, and that feeling is ultimately incredibly mundane. There’s been plenty of op-eds over the past few years about the “apocalypse being boring” and I feel this song and production is aiming for the same tone.Once again this is a nice song causing mixed feelings but at least this one is over 2 minutes.There’s no build up or drop because ultimately all this “end of the world” is leading to is exactly that – just the end and that makes it very weak for making a real change to the world of music.
