The use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is rapidly on the rise in education, jobs, and even on social media. It’s at the point now where you can believe every video or image you see on the internet because of the increasingly believable AI-generated content. But The View host Joy Behar is a staunch holdout. She spoke out against the reliance on the technology, predicting that it would lead to the “destruction” of the United States. Keep reading to find out why she thinks that.
College Graduations Erupt In Boos Over A.I. Talk
A.I. is everywhere these days. It’s at the drive-thru of your favorite fast-food restaurant, in the articles you read online (but not this one) and even in the essays kids are handing in for grades. But how far is too far? There is a lot of fear that A.I. could eventually take over most jobs, leaving a massive number of people out of work.
A.I. is currently frowned upon in high schools and colleges, with many schools having a zero-tolerance policy. However, the CEO of a tech company made headlines this week for encouraging college students to accept A.I.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt earned boos during his keynote graduation address at the University of Arizona. “It will touch every profession, every classroom, every hospital, every laboratory, every person and every relationship you have,” he said while championing the technology, according to The Associated Press. Several other graduation speakers at colleges around the country were booed for mentioning A.I.
Joy Behar Predicts AI Will Be ‘Destruction’ Of U.S.
A 1991 blockbuster movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger warned about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence. Terminator 2 detailed what could happen if the machines became self-aware and took over. While the movie was fictional, Joy Behar is sounding the alarm that it might actually happen.

Whoopi Goldberg brought up college students booing over A.I. on The View on Thursday, May 21. Joy Behar spoke out against the increasing use of artificial intelligence not only in the U.S. but worldwide. However, she compared how other countries are implementing rules and regulations regarding A.I.
“I would like to know what the rulers of this country plan to do when 80 percent of the world is out of work? All I hear is destruction in this country. I don’t hear anything that sounds like they’re building us up,” she said about the United States being unprepared for the technology.
However, her co-hosts had differing opinions on the topic.
Other The View Hosts Encourage Adapting To A.I.
Alyssa Farah Griffin admitted that it was getting “scary” how difficult it is to tell if something is created using A.I. or not. “There are certain things AI cannot do. It cannot convey empathy. It cannot make judgment calls the way that human minds can. It cannot replicate creativity. It’s getting close. That’s the scary thing,” she said.
Sunny Hostin, however, agreed with the Google CEO. “I think Gen Z should embrace AI, but with structure. They have to have career survival,” she said.
Tell us in the comments if you agree with Joy Behar that A.I. will be the downfall of the United States.
