    If you are someone who likes to keep up your exercise and fitness regime even when you are out and about and can’t get to the gym, there’s a number of ways to achieve your aim of staying active during your travels.

    Opportunities for outdoor fun and rewarding exercise are plentiful. There’s also the possibility of finding a local facility for where you are staying if you still feel you need a gym fix during traveling.

    Whether you find somewhere that has been supplied with outdoor fitness equipment for parks, or turn your hand to a bit of hiking or mountain biking, you’ll soon discover plenty of ways to stay active while away from home.

    Check out the area you are traveling to beforehand

    One of the best strategies for planning some exercise routines before you go traveling is to check out what is available in the area.

    If you are near a beach, you could plan your itinerary so you get time to go swimming. You might even find that the beach, or nearby park, has some outdoor gym equipment that you can make use of.

    Wherever you go, you are sure to find some interesting and exciting ways to raise your heart rate through great outdoor exercise.

    Find a local gym

    If you really do want to keep lifting weights and using the sort of equipment you only get in a gym the best idea would be to either find somewhere to stay that has a dedicated fitness center as part of the facilities. Alternatively, see if you can find a local gym that allows guest walk-ins without needing to sign up for membership.

    Get some travel-friendly workout equipment

    Naturally enough, it’s not realistic to pack your weights to take with you on vacation. However, you will soon discover that there is good availability of travel-friendly workout items that are easy to pack and bring with you.

    If you are looking for inspiration, take a look at things like a resistance band, jump rope, and wrist and ankle weights. When you shop around for these items you are bound to find some excellent travel-friendly workout equipment options.

    Get an app to help you exercise

    If you want to travel as light as possible but still want to stay active while taking a vacation a good way of doing that would be to use an online fitness app. Many of these platforms let you create a workout routine and can even suggest some resistance training routines to try anywhere.

    Get around on foot

    One of the simplest ways to stay fit and active while on your travels would be to commit to walking everywhere you can. It’s actually more immersive to explore a town or city on foot rather than taking public transport, or going on a guided tour.

    You should also be able to find some suggested walking routes to follow with a quick Google search.

    Yoga is great exercise, wherever you are

    Another great suggestion for staying active on vacation would be to make some time for a few yoga exercise routines. You can do these anywhere and they are an excellent way of keeping your body and mind in top condition, wherever you are.

    Mini-workouts work wonders

    If you have a packed itinerary, or simply want a bit of a break from the usual gym routine, you could do a series of mini-exercises at various points during your travels.

    While you are waiting for a travel connection, or to get into an attraction, for example, these are great moments for some stretches and movements to keep your body active.

    As you can see, there’s lots of great ways to stay active during your travels, all of which will help keep you fit and healthy while you enjoy some new cultural experiences.
