The ice finally thawed out at the end of Heated Rivalry‘s debut season. As readers already know from Rachel Reid’s books, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov finally confess their love to one another and commit to a relationship at the end of season 1. The season finale sets the stage for Reid’s The Long Game, which explores Ilya and Shane’s next chapter as an exclusive couple. So, when exactly will season 2 be released?

Here, Hollywood Life is keeping you updated on when season 2 of Heated Rivalry should premiere.

When Does Heated Rivalry Season 2 Come Out?

Season 2 of Heated Rivalry is officially moving forward and now has a target premiere window of April 2027. Creator Jacob Tierney confirmed that writing is underway and that production is expected to begin in August 2026, with filming set for the summer ahead of its spring launch. “There will be more Heated Rivalry on your TVs… as soon as humanly possible,” Tierney said in an interview on CBS Mornings.

Previously, Tierney said season 2 will not be released at the “same time next year” as it was in 2025, which was November.

“It can’t be same time next year, because this time last year I’d written five of these, and this time this year I’ve written zero of them,” Jacob told Variety in December 2025. “So, it’s going to be a little bit later, but it’s still going to be soon. … We understand that everybody’s goal is to not do two years between seasons.”

However, Jacob pointed out, “And at the same time, I don’t want to put out a rushed sh**ty second season just because the show is very popular. But we’re very aware that our creative partners are enthusiastic and don’t want to wait too long. We’re getting back to work!”

Tierney said in January 2026 that he hadn’t started writing it yet. That month, Connor Storrie was asked during a Today show appearance if filming might commence over the summer of 2026, to which he said, “Yeah, I think about then.”

The upcoming season is also set to take a noticeably different tone. Speaking at BookCon in New York, Tierney revealed that the story will move into “much more serious territory” for central couple Shane and Ilya. “It’s different. It really is different,” he explained, noting that while elements of romance remain, the focus shifts away from the early, high-intensity dynamic of their relationship and into something more mature.

Which Heated Rivalry Cast Members Are Returning for Season 2?

Series leads Hudson Williams, who plays Shane Hollander, and Connor, who plays Ilya Rozanov, are definitely returning for season 2. The actors signed on to do three seasons of the Crave show, per GQ.

Other cast members, including Christina Chang and Dylan Walsh, are also expected to return. Christina, who plays Shane’s mom, Yuna, in the show, teased what she’s excited for in season 2 during an exclusive red carpet interview with Hollywood Life at the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women event in January 2026.

“Just more support for her new son, her ‘adopted son,’” Christina said, referring to Ilya. “I’m just looking forward to the reunion with all the other castmates on set, and getting to tell the story even more.”

Will Scott & Kip Be in Season 2 of Heated Rivalry?

Actors François Arnaud and Robbie G.K., play Scott Hunter and Kip Grady, respectively, and they’re reprising their roles for season 2. Since their characters begin the Game Changers book series, fans were expecting that they’d be back to show more of their relationship. However, the show will still focus on Ilya and Shane, per the cast and crew.
