The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have officially ruled out Wynton McManis for their Week 1 game against the Montreal Alouettes due to a knee injury. The team issued an updated injury report on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old signed with the team in February following his release from the Toronto Argonauts. He spent four seasons with the Boatmen, earning two All-CFL selections and winning two Grey Cups during his tenure.
The native of Memphis, Tenn. originally started his CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders, winning a Grey Cup in 2018. He has also had NFL stints with the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Miami Dolphins.
Over 100 career regular-season CFL games, McManis has recorded 390 defensive tackles, 52 special teams tackles, 16 sacks, nine interceptions, four forced fumbles, and three defensive touchdowns.
The Tiger-Cats have also ruled out receiver Shemar Bridges (groin), offensive linemen Jonathan Denis (knee) and Arvin Hosseini (ankle), defensive end TyJuan Garbutt (knee), and defensive back Devynn Cromwell (knee).
Braxton Hill, who made three starts at linebacker last season, is questionable (calf).
The team will issue its official depth chart on Wednesday.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-0) will host the Montreal Alouettes (0-0) at Hamilton Stadium on Thursday, June 4 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. The Alouettes are coming off a Grey Cup loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, while the Tiger-Cats lost last year’s East Final to Montreal.
