The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have officially ruled out Canadian receiver Kevens Clercius for Friday’s regular-season opener against the Calgary Stampeders due to a knee injury. The team issued an updated official injury report on Wednesday afternoon.
The 26-year-old caught 40 passes for 411 yards last season, setting new career-highs in both categories. He made 18 starts during the regular-season but was demoted to a backup role during the East Semi-Final against the Montreal Alouettes.
The Montreal native was originally a second-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft out of the University of Connecticut. He has since made 72 catches for 763 yards and one touchdown over 36 career regular-season games.

Clercius caught two passes for 23 yards during the team’s recent 31-27 preseason loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Blue Bombers have officially also ruled out Canadian defensive lineman Tanner Schmekel (calf), Canadian linebacker Lane Novak (knee), American linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox (ankle), American defensive back Cam Allen (knee), and Canadian defensive back Michael Ball (thigh). Santos-Knox, who has been ruled out for the season, and Schmekel are already on the six-game injured list.
Winnipeg has also listed Canadian offensive lineman Tui Eli (ankle) and American defensive back Major Williams (hip) as questionable. Both were limited participants in practice this week.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (0-0) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (0-0) at McMahon Stadium on Friday, June 5 with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The Blue Bombers are coming off an East Semi-Final loss to the Montreal Alouettes, while the Stampeders lost last year’s West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions.
The weather forecast in Calgary calls for a high of 20 degrees and a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg and 770 CHQR in Calgary.
