President Donald Trump has often served as the basis of many “hot topics” on The View. During a recent episode, the co-hosts weighed in on his recent decision to attend an NBA game. The president ended up having a surprising figure defending his decision to attend the game: Whoopi Goldberg.
The Co-Hosts Of The View Recently Weighed In On President Donald Trump’s Decision To Watch The New York Knicks
President Donald Trump was invited to cheer on the New York Knicks by team owner James Dolan. It was confirmed that he would be taking the offer. In addition, NYC’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is also said to be attending the game.
This move has since led to increased security measures at the venue. Reportedly, this has also caused the cancellation of various watch parties in the area.
Recently, Trump’s attendance at the game became a topic of discussion on The View, especially as Trump’s decision to attend has proven to frustrate various Knicks fans. However, he proved to have an advocate of sorts in Whoopi Goldberg.
Goldberg felt that any fan had the right to attend, sharing, “I’m sorry, Trump and Mayor Mamdani are Knicks fans and have been. They’re New Yorkers.”
Ana Navarro then questioned if Trump’s presence could end up “jinxing” the Knicks. However, Goldberg felt that the players would probably play just the way they have been as of late. In fact, she pointed out that the team might not even notice that Trump was in attendance.
Goldberg continued, “There’s nothing either one of them can do to change what’s happening in the city for this team. They’re there. OK? I don’t think anything can jinx anything. I think [the Knicks] are on a mission. They have been winning and doing everything, and you could be butt naked up in the box. And ain’t nobody paying attention.”
Whoopi Goldberg Noted That There Was A Special Reason Why Trump Probably Wouldn’t Be A Distraction At The Game
However, Navarro didn’t feel too convinced, adding, “So, he didn’t have the time to go to Donald Trump Jr.‘s wedding because of Iran, but now that the strikes are raging again between Israel and Iran, he’s coming here for this game?”
Goldberg still defended Trump, pointing out that Knicks fans have been waiting for the team to make the NBA Finals since 1999. However, Navarro questioned whether or not Trump still counted as a New Yorker, calling him a “Floridian.”

Still, Goldberg maintained, “I was a Californian. I lived in California. I went to the Laker games. But I have always been, at my core, because I’m from here, I have always been a Knicks fan. And when you have always been a Knicks fan, it doesn’t matter where you live. I’ve loved all of the Knicks since I can remember.”
Later in the conversation, Goldberg added, “You earn the right as a Knicks fan. I don’t care who you are. I don’t have to like you, I don’t have to dig you. If I was as big as them, I’d still be going.” Once again emphasizing that Trump wouldn’t be too much of a distraction, noting that he would likely be sitting inside a box at the game.
