Chris Hemsworth headed to URBNSURF wave park with his children on Tuesday, spending the afternoon testing surfboards from three different manufacturers.
The Australian actor, best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, posted about the trip on Instagram. His caption was relaxed and easy: “Fun times at URBNSURF with my kids testing out some really fun boards.” He tagged three brands – JS Industries (the Psychonitro), Firewire Surfboards (the Sci-Fi) and Aipa Surf (the Supernova).
Hemsworth has talked openly about his love of the ocean for years. He and his wife, actress Elsa Pataky, have raised their three children in Byron Bay on Australia’s east coast.
Byron Bay is one of the country’s most beloved surf destinations. Growing up there, the kids aren’t exactly strangers to the water. Hemsworth himself has been photographed surfing around Byron Bay on many occasions – for him, it’s clearly more daily routine than weekend hobby.
URBNSURF operates artificial wave parks across Australia. The facilities produce consistent, surfable swells without the unpredictability of the open ocean. That setup makes them well-suited for comparing boards. You can ride the same wave type repeatedly on different shapes and get a genuine feel for each one.
The three boards Hemsworth tested come from respected names in the surf industry. JS Industries is an Australian shaper with a strong competition background. The Psychonitro is one of its more lively shortboards, designed for quick, responsive surfing.
Firewire Surfboards built its reputation on progressive construction and design. The brand is known for using lightweight materials that have changed how performance surfboards are built. The Sci-Fi is a speed-oriented shape with a wider point forward for drive and flow.
Aipa Surf is a Hawaii-founded brand. The Supernova has a fuller, more traditional outline suited to a wide range of surfers.
None of the brand tags came with any indication of a formal sponsorship. There were no promotional hashtags and no paid-partnership labels. Hemsworth simply called the boards “really fun” – a minimal review, but a warm one.
He’s also the co-founder of Centr, a health and wellness platform focused on active outdoor living. Surfing fits comfortably within that world. Still, Tuesday’s post had the feel of a personal family outing rather than any kind of campaign.
There’s something quietly appealing about a post like this. One of the most recognizable actors on the planet spent a Tuesday at a wave park with his kids, writing a caption about boards he enjoyed. No elaborate setup, no polished imagery. A surf-loving dad doing what he loves with the people he loves most.
