Two Canadians switched teams and joined the Montreal Alouettes on Monday. They were offensive lineman Anthony Vandal of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec and defensive lineman Ty Anderson of Calgary, Alberta according to cfl.ca.

Vandal played 35 games with the Argonauts and won a Grey Cup with Toronto in 2024. The Argonauts defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 41-24 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia. Vandal, who is 6’4″, 300 pounds, was in fact the last player taken in the 2023 Canadian Football League Draft. He was selected in the eighth round, 72nd overall, by the Argonauts out of the University of Sherbrooke.

Anderson is joining his second CFL team. Last year, he played nine games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Before joining the CFL, Anderson was a member of the University of Alberta Golden Bears in USports action. He is 6’3″, 290 pounds and was the Tiger-Cats fourth round pick, 36th overall, in the 2025 CFL Draft.

The Alouettes won their first game of the 2025 CFL season. On opening night at Hamilton Stadium last Thursday, Montreal defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 30-27 in overtime. Montreal won the game on a 17-yard field goal by Jose Maltos shortly after the Alouettes recovered a Tiger-Cats fumble when Hamilton had the football. Montreal next plays host to Toronto on Friday night in the Argonauts’s season opener.
