Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the complete schedule for Pakistan Women’s upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, which is set to take place in July and August 2026. The tour will feature three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals, offering both teams an important opportunity to build momentum after the Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Kingdom.

The ODI leg of the series will carry added significance as it forms part of the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 cycle. With valuable qualification points at stake, both teams will be eager to strengthen their positions in the standings.

Championship battle adds extra edge to ODI series

Pakistan Women head into the series in a strong position in the ICC Women’s Championship table. Having secured four victories from six matches, they currently occupy second place with eight points. Sri Lanka Women are close behind in third position after registering four wins and two defeats from their six outings, also making them strong contenders in the race for World Cup qualification.

The three-match ODI series is therefore expected to have a major impact on the championship standings. With both sides evenly matched in recent years, fans can expect a fiercely contested battle in Hambantota.

Pakistan’s recent rise in women’s cricket has been driven by improved consistency across formats, while Sri Lanka have shown impressive progress under a developing squad that continues to compete strongly against higher-ranked opposition.

    Hambantota to host entire tour

All six matches of the tour will be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota. The venue has become a regular destination for international cricket in Sri Lanka and is known for producing competitive contests across both limited-overs formats.

The ODI series will begin on July 23, followed by the second and third matches on July 25 and July 28 respectively. After a short break, the focus will shift to the T20I series, with games scheduled for July 31, August 2 and August 4. Playing all matches at a single venue is expected to simplify travel arrangements and allow both teams to settle quickly into local conditions.

Rivalry remains closely fought in T20Is

The historical numbers suggest there is very little to separate the two sides in the shortest format. Pakistan and Sri Lanka Women have met 21 times in T20 Internationals, with Pakistan holding a slight advantage. Pakistan have won 11 of those encounters, while Sri Lanka have emerged victorious on nine occasions. One match ended without a result, highlighting how competitive the rivalry has been over the years. The T20I series could also provide both teams with an opportunity to test combinations and build towards future global tournaments following the conclusion of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

While the T20I rivalry is relatively even, Sri Lanka have enjoyed greater success in the 50-over format. The two teams have faced each other 34 times in Women’s ODIs, with Sri Lanka winning 22 matches. Pakistan have registered 11 victories, while one game ended in a no-result. However, recent performances indicate that Pakistan are capable of challenging Sri Lanka’s historical dominance and could make the upcoming series a tightly contested affair.
