Keke Palmer is officially a professor. The actor and entrepreneur announced this week that UCLA has formalized a partnership with her, backing a creative empowerment initiative she’s spent years building.
Palmer broke the news on Instagram with an emotional caption. “It’s so incredible to see all the seeds growing that I’ve been planting,” she wrote. She gave special credit to three early supporters: Nora Radd, Jefe, and Chelsea. The path here wasn’t cheap. “The financial investment was not for the faint of heart,” she said, “but I knew in my spirit that it was work I was meant to do.”
Entertainment attorney Ken Hertz got a heartfelt shoutout too. Palmer thanked him for his “constant belief” and said she’s looking forward to everything ahead. “I look forward to all the creatives we will be able to empower through this initiative,” she wrote.
The program is designed to give creatives structured support. A full breakdown hasn’t been released yet. The UCLA connection gives the initiative serious institutional backing and a much bigger platform to work from.
She made no secret of how much the new title means. “Professor Palmer in the house, the second one!” she wrote. Her older sister is also a professor, Palmer noted. Now the family has two.
It’s hard to overstate how much ground Palmer has covered. She started as a child actor and broke through with the 2006 film “Akeelah and the Bee.” She went on to star in Jordan Peele’s 2022 film “Nope” and hosted the BET Awards. She’s also built a reputation for being genuinely open with her audience in interviews and on social media.
This initiative feels like a natural next step. In her own words, the goal is to empower creatives. The UCLA partnership gives that vision a formal home and a much bigger stage.
Multiple investors committed to the project well ahead of UCLA’s involvement. Nora Radd, Jefe, and Chelsea were among the first. Ken Hertz stayed in her corner throughout. Early backing like that says a lot about the strength of the idea.
A launch timeline and full program details haven’t been shared yet. More information will likely come in the weeks ahead.
Fans left warm congratulations in the comments after Palmer’s announcement.
For Palmer, years of personal work finally have an official home. She planted the seeds. Now she gets to grow them as Professor Palmer.
