Sheinelle Jones has been sharing her grief process with fans since the loss of her spouse, Uche Jones, last year. Recently, she opened up with fans in a recent “check-in.” Since then, fans have been sharing their reactions, and their own stories, with her on social media.
Today‘s Sheinelle Jones Noted The Best & Worst Moments Over This Past Year
Sheinelle joined Today in 2014. Over the years, viewers have seen her in multiple roles on the program, including on Weekend Today and the show’s third hour. Earlier this year, she became Jenna Bush Hager’s co-host on the show’s fourth hour: Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.
In 2007, Sheinelle married Uche Ojeh, with them sharing three children together: Kayin, Uche, and Clara. Last year, it was announced that Ojeh had passed away from aggressive glioblastoma. At the time, Jones had stepped away from the show to help take care of him.
A year after this tragic loss, Sheinelle took to social media to give fans an update about what a day in her life looks like. As she explained, she was inspired by a friend to do this.
As Sheinelle explained, “My friend told me I was overdue for a check-in … so I figured I’d just share some of the recent pics on my phone… kind of a snapshot at life lately.” The Today co-host shared that she had been keeping busy.
However, through it all, Sheinelle acknowledged both good times and bad. She continued, “From the sidelines at games, to the beach, book tour, and the office. It feels like the last few months have been some of the *best* of times, with some hard moments in between; perhaps that’s the new normal.”
Sheinelle also wanted to share a message for anyone going through their own grief process. She continued, “For anyone in this first year or so of grief … I just want you to know that I see you, and I hope you see me too. We can and must still have beautiful days filled with new wins, joy and hopefully peace that passes all understanding. Love you, guys.”
A Few Figures Came Out In Support Of Sheinelle, Including Their Own Grief Stories
The share included a carousel post, filled with images of Sheinelle on vacation, on her recent book tour, and even on a magazine cover. However, the penultimate image was that of her beloved Uche. The final photo was a selfie, symbolically uniting them.
Many figures came out to share their support for Sheinelle since her share. Deborah Roberts, who is married to Today alum Al Roker, shared a few heart emojis in response to the post.
Taking to the comments, fans shared their own stories with Sheinelle. Many were going through their own grief journeys. In fact, Sheinelle herself showed her appreciation by writing, “Thank you” in the comments. Some comments included:
