His busy career left little time for romance. Simon Cowell never had any desire to marry or have kids. He thought he would be a bachelor for life until he met Lauren Silverman. However, their romance didn’t begin as a fairy tale. She opened up about how getting pregnant changed her life.
Simon Cowell’s Fiance Opens Up About Unexpected Pregnancy
Simon Cowell has never been married. But his fiance has. In fact, she was married when they first met and started a secret affair. It was only when she got pregnant that things took a serious turn in their relationship.
Simon Cowell’s fiance broke her silence on the scandal on the Happy Mum podcast this week. She described the pregnancy with their son, now 12, as “one of the hardest times” in her life. “There are so many emotions that went with that, because it was the end of my marriage, obviously. It was one of the hardest times of my life, because — I don’t want to say regretful, because I don’t regret anything — do I wish it had happened a different way … of course I do,” she said.
Lauren Silverman continued, “But I think everything happens for a reason. It was just one of those moments where I knew it was right and that was what I wanted and that Simon was the person I wanted to spend my life with. And so, however we got there, I just believed that it was meant to be.”
Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman confirmed in 2013 that they were expecting a child. Their son Eric was born in 2014, but she admitted on the podcast that she couldn’t enjoy the pregnancy at all because of all the media attention.
Where She Stands With Her Ex Now
Simon Cowell and his fiance has yet to make it down the aisle. However, she legally changed her name to Lauren Cowell in late 2025. As to her relationship with her ex, she said they’re on good terms, all things considered.
“I feel really proud to say that … we are many years past that point. My ex and I, we do have a very nice relationship,” she said. Lauren Silverman shares a 20-year-old son with her ex-husband. The situation was hard on him as well. However, they’re all good now.
