The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will officially be without veteran defensive back Jamal Peters when they host the B.C. Lions on Friday night. The team issued its official depth chart on Thursday morning.
Hamilton listed Peters as questionable on their most recent injury report. He did not practice this week due to a head injury he suffered last week against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The reigning All-CFL cornerback was taken off on a stretcher but was cleared by medical staff relatively quickly. He has been placed on the one-game injured list.
Zamari Walton will start for Peters at boundary cornerback. The 27-year-old made seven defensive tackles over two regular-season games last year, his first in the CFL. He spent Hamilton’s first two games of 2026 on the practice roster.
The Tiger-Cats have also made a change at field-side cornerback, where Devodric Bynum will start this week. The 27-year-old played five regular-season games with the Edmonton Elks in 2025, recording 17 defensive tackles. In 2024, he made 23 defensive tackles, five interceptions, and one forced fumble.
Greg Junior, who started the first two games of the season at field-side cornerback, has been moved to the practice roster. He made nine defensive tackles and one special teams tackle over those two outings.
The Tiger-Cats have also promoted Kaleb Hayes from the practice roster. The six-foot, 194-pound defender will dress in a depth role behind Bynum.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-1) will host the B.C. Lions (0-1) at Hamilton Stadium on Friday, June 19 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. The Lions are coming off a last-minute loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a repeat of last year’s West Final, while the Tiger-Cats are coming off a high-scoring win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The weather forecast in Hamilton calls for a high of 24 degrees with a 40 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 730 CKNW (English) or Sher-E-Punjab Radio AM 600 (Punjabi) in Vancouver or the Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton.
