Australia wrapped up the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in emphatic fashion, cruising to a seven-wicket victory in the third and final match at Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium. Chasing a modest target of 110, the visitors reached 112/3 in just 11 overs thanks to a destructive half-century from Mitchell Marsh, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 series triumph after earlier wins by four wickets and seven runs.

Towhid Hridoy stands tall as Bangladesh struggle for support

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Bangladesh endured a difficult outing against a disciplined Australian bowling attack. Early wickets left the hosts under pressure as Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon all departed cheaply, reducing Bangladesh to a shaky position inside the powerplay.

Amid the collapse, Towhid Hridoy produced a fighting knock of 61 from 51 deliveries, striking three fours and three sixes while holding the innings together. However, he received little assistance from the other end. Nurul Hasan managed only six, Shamim Hossain Patwari fell for a duck, and Rishad Hossain’s brisk 16-run contribution was the only other score of note.

Late efforts from Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed failed to accelerate the scoring as Bangladesh closed on 109/8 from their 20 overs, a total that always looked below par on a batting-friendly surface.

Australia’s bowlers shared the workload effectively. Spencer Johnson delivered an outstanding spell of 2/6 from four overs, while Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa also claimed two wickets apiece. Nikhil Chaudhary chipped in with one wicket to keep Bangladesh under constant pressure.

Mitchell Marsh and Tim David finish in style as Australia dominate chase

Australia’s pursuit got off to an aggressive start with Marsh taking the attack to the Bangladeshi bowlers from the outset. The skipper smashed 60 runs from only 28 balls, peppering the boundary with seven fours and four towering sixes to put the result beyond doubt within the first half of the innings.

Josh Inglis contributed 17 before falling to Nasum Ahmed, while Cooper Connolly added a composed 15 during a useful partnership with Marsh. Although Bangladesh managed to remove three batters through Shoriful, Nasum and Rishad, they could not stem the flow of runs.

Tim David then provided the finishing touches in spectacular fashion, blasting an unbeaten 12 from just three deliveries with two massive sixes. Matt Renshaw remained unbeaten on six as Australia raced to 112/3 in only 11 overs, completing one of the most convincing victories of the series.

The result capped a dominant campaign for Australia, who claimed all three matches to secure a 3-0 whitewash. While Bangladesh showed glimpses of resilience through Hridoy’s lone hand with the bat, they were consistently outplayed by a balanced Australian side that excelled with both ball and bat throughout the series.
