A Waymo vehicle drives in San …

A robotaxi partnership between Uber and Waymo in Phoenix has ended.
The two companies are still working together in Atlanta and Austin, Texas.
The pilot program, which lasted almost three years, allowed Uber users in the Phoenix market to use the rideshare app to hail autonomous vehicles from Waymo, a subsidiary of Google parent company Alphabet.
The pilot program then expanded to let Waymo vehicles deliver food for Uber Eats, according to TechCrunch.
Uber users in Atlanta and Austin will still be able to use the rideshare app to order rides in Waymo vehicles. The Waymo vehicles in those markets are exclusive to Uber, the rideshare company told CNBC.
In other cities, Waymo offers rides via its own app. Later this year, it plans to expand to Nashville, Tennessee, in a nonexclusive partnership with Uber competitor Lyft, according to CNBC.
Waymo is keeping its vehicles in Phoenix, but they will be used for other purposes.
“After hundreds of thousands of trips with Uber, we have integrated these vehicles back into our Phoenix fleet, where they will continue to serve riders through Waymo, including … delivery with DoorDash,” Waymo told TechCrunch in a statement.
Uber told Bloomberg News that the Phoenix pilot was limited, involving about a dozen Waymo vehicles, and that it’s exploring other options for autonomous vehicle providers for the Arizona capital.
