The Calgary Stampeders have signed linebacker Terrence Ganyi of Montreal, Quebec on Monday according to cfl.ca. Ganyi is joining his second Canadian Football League franchise after playing the last three seasons with the British Columbia Lions from 2024 to 2026. Ganyi was actually cut by the Lions on Thursday according to 3downnation.com.
Ganyi played 36 regular season games with the Lions. He had 15 special teams tackles and one tackle for a loss. In the postseason, Ganyi played three playoff games for the Lions and had two special team tackles in important knockout games.
At 27 years of age, Ganyi joined a Stampeders squad at a time when they have a record of one win and two losses after the first three games of the 2026 CFL regular season. The Stampeders just beat the Lions this past Saturday in Kelowna, British Columbia by a score of 41-33. The game took place in Kelowna because BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia is currently hosting the 2026 World Cup of Soccer.
Ganyi played five seasons of College Football. He was with the University of Connecticut Huskies for three seasons (2018, 2019, and 2021), and then two more additional seasons with the University of Maine Black Bears (2022 and 2023). Ganyi was then drafted in the sixth round, 53rd overall, by the Lions in the 2024 CFL Draft.
